Fontanafredda Ebbio Langhe Nebbiolo DOC
Fontanafredda produces wines of the highest caliber, thanks to the respect of the land, passion for vinicultural tradition, and use of innovative technology. Located in the heart of Le Langhe, a hilly wine region in the northern region of Piemonte, Fontanafredda and is spread over 250 acres of rugged terrain in the villages of Serralunga d’Alba, Barolo, and Diano d’Alba.
When young, it features a fragrance which is wonderfully spontaneous and full of surprise: in its bouquet, colour, and generous, velvety body this langhe Nebbiolo brings out all the typical qualities of the magnificent vine it is made from. Later in life its colour becomes garnet-red with strong orange shades, and its nose deepens, with traces of withered flowers, such as roses and, above-all, geraniums. Its warm, soft, well-bodied flavour is velvety and well-balanced, lingering in the mouth.
The whole bunches of grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks, alternating layers of 50% crushed-destemmed must and 50% whole bunches of grapes, as picked from the vine, at a controlled temperature (28° C), for an average of 10-12 days.
Ideal with flavoursome pasta dishes, meats and medium-mature cheeses.
